How to brief a custom hoodie: fleece, French terry and fit
Define the material and proportions together before asking for a sample.
In this guide

Begin with the silhouette
A boxy body, dropped shoulder and cropped length are separate choices. Describe the desired balance with front, side and back references. Include chest width, body length, shoulder width, sleeve length and hood dimensions in the base size. Note where each measurement is taken.
Compare fabric, not just GSM
GSM is fabric mass per square meter. It does not by itself describe softness, warmth, drape or durability. French terry has a looped reverse; brushed fleece has a raised inner surface. Compare candidate swatches in the intended composition, structure and finish, then assess them in the chosen fit.
Treat rib and trims as part of the garment
Record rib width, recovery and color match for cuffs and hems. Specify zipper, drawcord and eyelet details where used. Check that the rib and body behave together after the agreed wash procedure, and that the hood and neckline sit as intended.
Approve decoration on the chosen fabric
Provide artwork dimensions and placement in addition to the image file. A large embroidery area can stiffen a panel; a garment wash can change shade and measurements. Review the decorated and finished sample as a whole.
Send a brief that can be quoted
Include quantity per style and color, size range, destination, target date and any required tests. AARFAR’s custom minimum is 300 pieces per style, per color. Sample cost, production timing and shipping arrangements are confirmed for each order.
Put the guide into practice.
Send your reference, target quantities and questions. Your brief does not need to have every answer on day one.
