What to include in your first clothing tech pack
A practical starting point for a clearer development conversation.
In this guide

Start with a clear overview
Give each style a name or reference code. Add front and back drawings or clear reference photographs, and describe what you want to keep or change. A good brief makes the intended garment easy to understand.
Define material and construction
List the preferred fabric composition, weight and finish where known. Add notes for seams, pockets, closures, cuffs and hems. Mark anything that needs further development rather than guessing a specification.
Provide measurements
Include a base-size measurement chart, measurement points and fit comments. If you have an existing garment with the right fit, reference it clearly. Size grading and tolerances should be agreed during development.
Show branding and packing
Include artwork, placement, dimensions and color references for decoration. Add labels, hangtags and packing requirements. Final care and composition labels must be based on the actual material.
Finish with order context
State the estimated quantity per color, size breakdown, destination and target date. Keep a revision number on your file so sample comments and approvals refer to the same specification.
Put the guide into practice.
Send your reference, target quantities and questions. Your brief does not need to have every answer on day one.
